Number Idiom: In One Piece


(all) in one piece, adv. phr.

Not hurt or damaged. This idiom refers to something not breaking into pieces when there are problems. Think about a glass vase that is sent by mail. This idiom is often used figuratively, meaning "to harm," for things (or people) that do not break into pieces.

My car broke down twice, but I made here it in one piece.

The furniture we shipped home arrived all in one piece.
